Hydro-seeding is the most uniform, fast, effective and economical means of applying seed and fertiliser on sloping areas prone to erosion or inaccessible to conventional equipment. The components are mixed together in water with the resultant slurry then applied to the soil surface by a high pressure jet. The mixture is kept in permanent suspension before application with pumping and agitation equipment which re-circulates the materials. Temporary erosion control is achieved by applying a mulch of chopped straw and tackifiers as a separate operation over the hydro seeded area. The mulch creates a micro climate between the underlayer of straw and the soil surface, creating ideal germinating conditions by moderating soil surface temperature.
